To offer assistance to members of our parish family who are having difficulty coping due to illness or social isolation. We offer support through our prayers which are said individually by members of the ministry, as well as collectively by the church parishioners.
By supplying occasional meals, homemade soup, flowers and cards, we hope to provide additional support and comfort to those in need. Also, our Prayers Shawl Angels crochet or knit beautiful prayer shawls/lap blankets which have been blessed at a special Mass, to be gifted to those who are ill, suffering from a loss or depression. Depending on our assessment of the family’s needs, we may provide food in a crisis situation or short-term support related to managing and running a household and give any referrals that may be appropriate. Thanks to the generosity of our members making voluntary donations throughout the year, we have been able to assist less fortunate families with monetary gifts during the Christmas season.
Responsibilities - Members are required to make sick and/or homebound visits, and participate in the committees and activities related to the ministry’s outreach programs. A strong desire to reach out to our neighbors in need. Also, any experience in healthcare or counseling is desirable but not necessary for membership.
